La Isla is a wonderful collection of stores in the heart of the Hotel Zone located along Boulevard Francisco Medina Ascencio in front of the Sunscape Resort, and the Grand Venetian and Peninsula Condo Resorts. When construction first began on this beautiful mall I have to admit I wasn’t very happy about it. My beloved Puerto Vallarta was becoming more commercialized each visit and this being right at the entrance of my condo building just rubbed in the fact that things were changing.
Upon completion and my visit fall of 2017 the mall was ready for customers. It is huge and a bit overwhelming but all the stores are very nice – most Mexican stores but some popular U.S. stores as well. I was quite impressed with the selection of stores as well as the architectural design. We had fun shopping and bought some nice things. And I have to admit it is nice to have real stores handy to shop at in case you forgot to pack something or decide you do want something new for that special dinner out on the beach.
There is an outdoor theater area for concerts and shows with seating for your viewing convenience. We loved the live show we saw with singers and dancers. Professional and very well done and very entertaining. The seating area was full. If you are staying close by I would suggest walking over at night to see what might be happening in this little arena. There is also a couple restaurants that have outdoor seating where you could get a drink and watch the show.
There is even an amusement park area for the children to play. Not to mention several nice restaurants. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to dine during our last trip but hope to try a couple next time.
I would highly recommend spending an afternoon at La Isla. Have lunch or dinner, take in a movie (did I mention there is a movie theater with state of the art reclining comfortable seating) , or shop to drop. You won’t be disappointed.
